FREE KITEBOARDING SAFETY CLINIC by MARK WORTH
April 27th and 28th

 

BODYSURFING UPWIND and BOARD RECOVERY CLINIC

SATURDAY, APRIL 27 - 1:30pm @ Hood River Event Site
1) Avoiding separation from your board
2) Tracking your board’s location when you have separated from it
3) Bodysurfing upwind to recover your board

The clinic will start on the event site lawn with a classroom sesion and then move out into the river for the second half.
 

SELF RESCUE CLINIC

SUNDAY, APRIL 28 - 1:30pm @ Hood River Event Site
1) When to self rescue and when it’s too dangerous.
2) How to safely move to the kite as you wind up the lines.
3) How to safely move to the kite without winding the lines.
4) How to get the kite into self rescue position
5) Self rescuing to a safe location

The clinic will start on the event site lawn with a classroom sesion and then move out into the river for the second half.

These clinics are offered in the hope of reducing the number of kiteboarders exposed to dangerous situations in the Gorge. Students can prepare for the clinics with online instruction at: http://www.gorgekiteboardschool.com/cgi-shl/12-online.pl

BLOSSOM FEST

April 12-28, 2013

Celebrate as thousands of acres of pear, apple, and cherry blossoms carpet the Hood River Valley.  Pancake breakfasts to BBQs, local arts and crafts shows to antique sales.

Hood River Blossom Fest and Springtime Guide

Blossom Time in Hood River celebrates the arrival of spring with events and attractions throughout the County from April 12-28. What to Do:

  • Visitors to the area will want to drive the world-famous 35-mile scenic Fruit Loop through the beautiful Upper Valley filled with blooming orchards of apple, pear, and cherry trees—as well as farm stands, alpacas, wineries, and unparalleled scenery.

  • Visit the waterfront, the waterfalls, and the great outdoors during your stay—hike, bike, stand-up paddleboard, ski, tube, snowboard, sled.

The best of Hood River and the rural lifestyle are all here during Blossom Time in the Gorge: Food, wine, beer, arts and crafts shows, pancake breakfasts, baked goods, preserves, yarn, shopping—and, of course, blossoms.
